Installation Instructions |
|
Joining rails and posts is fast and simple.
The following assembly instructions are based on extensive
experience and testing and will make strong joints if carefully
followed.
|
Tools
– Saws (hand or power), miter
box, non-synthetic rags, knife or rasp, solvent with dauber
(if dauber is not supplied use a natural brush equal to
2/3 of the diameter of the post or rail being installed). |
| Cutting
– Posts and rails can be easily
cut with a common handsaw or power saw. Cuts should be
as square as possible (suggest using a miter box) to maximize
bonding surface. |
|
|
Removal of Burrs
– After cutting, burrs must be
removed. Burr removal is easily done with a pocketknife
or rasp. |
| Cleaning
– Surfaces to be joined must
be wiped completely free of all foreign matter with a
clean dry cloth. |
|
|
Cement Application –
Apply a liberal coat of cement evenly around the
end of the rod or tube being joined, a length equal to
the fitting depth.
Apply a light coat of cement into the fitting bell end.
Cement application should be done rapidly and without
interruption. Simply insert rod or rail into the fitting
until it bottoms out. Before joint is set, wipe off any
excess cement with a cotton rag or paper towel. |
